Q: What voices are included?
A: 6 Free voices are included (English (US), English (UK), Spanish, French, Italian, and German). If you're looking for higher quality speech, we've worked with SVOX to allow their top-notch voices to be integrated into Talkadroid seamlessly. If you'd like to purchase or preview the one's available, press the menu key while in Talkadroid and press "Get More Voices".

Q: How can I make Talkadroid read webpages?
A: In your device's internet browser, press menu->share, then select Talkadroid. Note: to protect your privacy, Talkadroid will not read secure webpages that require a login.

Q: Why am I getting 'unsupported file' when trying to load a document?
A: Talkadroid currently supports text-based PDFs, .Txt files, and most .doc and .docx files. Support is constantly expanding, but requires your help! If you have a file that isn't working, email it to us at ideedle@epidream.com.

Q: How do I add or edit an existing button in the soundboard?
A: Long press an existing button to add, edit, or delete. You can also press the menu key on your device to add a button.

Q: Why does it sometimes take a while to translate?
A: To save space and battery life, Talkadroid gets it's translation data via the internet. If you have a poor connection, it can take longer than expected.

Does not do as advertised

My husband is completely blind, he was unable to use this app. It did not read a web page, it did not read a text. I'm sorry but this is no good for him. We will have to keep an ear out for something that can truly work for him. My phone is a droid x

Argument exception

Does not work in the one pdf I tried, argument exception. I did have fun translating text to different languages and back again with the kids.

Not good for me

Failed to load all .doc's I threw at it, which is what I got it for. I'm sure it's good at other things, but look for something else if you're looking to read documents aloud.

Great Utility. Overall this is a wonderful tool to have and use. I bought it at the same time I downloaded SVOX, and I bought one SVOX's premium voice packs as well. So all of that in combination, really makes this app a joy to use. You don't of course have to install all of the extra things I did to you use this app. They just complemented it well and suited my needs. I find it very fun to type in ridiculous things and have them spoken back to me, especially with the SVOX Dark Lord voice, just hilarious! And the ability to save what you type, in wave format, well it's really what puts the icing on the cake for this application. I have noticed at times, though, at least on my tablet. That the app starts to not function properly and the little enter/play button just does not work at all, it gets stuck. Actually, even on my phone, the only way too get the app to play. Is to hit the Return key on my phone's keyboard. So besides that issue, I'm cry satisfied with this app. A feature request for me, though, would to be able to choose the bit and khz for the exported .wav file.

Useful but lacking...

I will be rendered mute for a week or so by invasive corrective surgery. It looks like it will be useful for communicating under those circumstances, but lacks many simple features that could vastly improve usability. It desperately needs resizeable/rearrangeable buttons on the soundboard. Adding/removing categories would also help. Most of the negative comments that I see are apparently from people with reading comprehension difficulties unable to understand the purpose of this app.

Buy this, then you have to buy the voice you want and can get hung up

Paid for this, didn't use good voice engine but offered to sell me new accent. Navigated to that page and didn't like price (paid and now have to pay again to get basic stuff). So canceled. Now every time I try to launch TalkaDroid it goes to Google Play Store and not even to TalkaDroid page. So basically no longer works at all. Money back please.
