Does this work?

I can only find it as widget, and it didn't appear to do anything other then allow me to change the border color

I de-de-de-excommunicated myself with excitement

Saved me having to write this myself. Now I can always know what day it is. Probably worth explaining what this widget does in the description though, so that Greyface leaves it alone.

Law of fives

The app installed but didn't show up on the widget list the first time I tried; so I uninstalled & tried again, and it worked. The text is a bit small for a larger tablet screen, and although it might be possible to have a version that would be larger (2x1 or perhaps 2x2) that's probably too much work for a simple, functional and pleasing app.
