Top 10 Android Games of the Week – December 31, 2012

It’s New Years Eve and it’ also our last Top 10 Android Games of the Week list for the year. 2012…we hardly knew ye’. If you’ve got some time to kill before the ball drops, we’ve got you covered…

1. Battle Cats

Battle Cats is a bizarre little game, but a fun one. You’ll take control of an army of cats as you attack the enemy castle, and I’ll just let the screenshot below speak for itself. Battle Cats is definitely different, but well worth checking out and you can get it for free on Google Play.

2. Dueling Blades

Dueling Blades is a strategy game that pits you against folks online and offline as you battle people from around the globe and take on energy based missions. You can read a bit more about the game here or if you’re ready to duel you can pick it up on Google Play for free.

3. Big Win Basketball

Flying under our radar in this busy holiday season was a new release from Hothead Games with Big Win Basketball. The last of the major sports has finally made its way to Android courtesy of Hothead’s popular Card/Sport sim series and the worlds a better place for it. It’s just like the other Big Win titles, but with Basketball and it’s free to download on Google Play.

4. Space Ace

Digital Leisure brought us Dragon’s Lair and now they’re back with another Don Bluth creation in Space Ace. It’s got the look and feel of the original arcade classic and it’s great that you get to go after the Evil Commander Borf again. It’s definitely not a game for everyone, but if you love Dragon’s Lair or arcade classics it’s well worth a look. You can pick up Space Ace for $4.99 on Google Play.

5. Puzzle Family VS

Com2uS released Puzzle Family earlier this year and now they’re back with a sequel dubbed Puzzle Family VS. The newest iteration of the game lets you battle it out online in real-time matches with dozens of crazy characters. If you enjoyed the first one you’ll definitely dig the sequel and you can pick it up for free.

6. Touch Detective

If you owned a Nintendo DS you probably played Touch Detective, and now you can get it on your Android device. You’ll get to prowl around solving mysteries and investigating people as you capture dream thieves and rescue snow fairies. The first chapter of Touch Detective is free and the rest of the chapters can be unlocked from within the game via IAP.

7. Ant Raid

Ant Raid is the latest Android game from Herocraft, and a rare entry into the strategy genre for the group. It’s about ants and strategizing and you can check it out for $0.99 on Google Play.

8. Pudding Monsters

Zeptolabs dropped something different last week with Pudding Monsters. You’ll get 75 levels of sticky fun, and it’s just as cute as Cut the Rope, but with lots of pudding monsters. There are free and paid versions of Pudding Monsters available to download on Google Play.

9. Doggie Blues

Doggie Blues 3D is a new platformer from Colorcoder with an old-school feel. You play a sheep herding dog and you’ll have to use your wits to get through over 30 challenging levels if you want to be the top sheep herder around. It’s got the cool look of retro N64 games and it’s a free download.

10. Glass Fort

Want to play a Jenga like game with a twist? If so you should check out Glass Fort by Solverlabs. The game puts you to work dismantling towers one tap at a time, but you’ll have to follow the rules by breaking the blue blocks and saving the reds. It’s great for some casual fun and best of all it’s free!
