Top 10 New Android Games of the Week – October 28, 2012

It’s Sunday which means we’re back with another edition of the Top 10 New Android Games of the Week. I’m not going to go through the whole spiel about how you’re going to get this or that, but I will say that it was a great week to be an Android Gamer…

1. Zombiewood

Zombiewood is the latest Android game from Gameloft, and it’s also one of their best. I won’t spoil anything for people who haven’t played it yet, so I’ll just say you play an ass-kicking Zombie Slayer straight outta’ the movies… who gets to kill Zombie’s on Movie sets in a Zombie infested Hollywood. It’s a great dual-stick shooter and you can get it for free on Google Play.

2. Contract Killer 2

Glu Mobile dropped the sequel to its uber-popular game Contract Killer this week with Contract Killer 2: Shadow Conspiracy. This time around we get an actual hero, a storyline, and a lot of the action will be up close and personal as you can now kill your enemies from up close and far away. It’s a vastly improved version of the original and it’s totally free to download.

3. Penny Arcade’s Rain – Slick 3

Fans of old-school RPG’s got a treat this week as Tinkerhouse Games released an awesome one in the form of Penny Arcade’s On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness. The title may be a mouthful, but the game is top-notch as you’ll quickly find out when traveling through the world of New Arcadia. This one looks like a “must-have” game for any fan of retro RPG’s and it’s a steal at only $2.99.

4. Legends of Loot

Like Loot? If you’re the type of adventurer that loves to collect loot then Legends of Loot is just the game for you. This adventure game lets you take on around 100 different mazes as you go through dark corridors looking for loot and slashing your enemies. There’s a lot more to the game than I can cover in a brief synopsis, but it’s safe to say it’s a game you’ll want to grab if you’re into adventure games. You can pick up Majesco Entertainment’s Legends of Loot for free on Google Play.

5. LAD

LAD is a new Android Game from the folks at Black Chair Games, and if eerie adventure games are your thing LAD looks like a great one to get. I just stumbled across this one last night on Amazon, and haven’t had a chance to dig into it yet so check back in a few days for a bit more on this creepy looking little game. If you’d like to give it a shot now you can pick up LAD for $1.19 on the Amazon App Store.

6. Finger Balance

If you’re good at balancing things or believe you have the balancing skills of a sideshow performer Coconut Island’s Finger Balance is just the thing for you. We covered this one earlier in the week and you can read more about it here or you can head on over to Google Play and pick up Finger Balance for free.

7. Blosics

Blosics HD is a game of blocks & balls. You’ll use your balls to knock the blocks off the playing field, but there’s only one problem… the blocks are alive. This means you’ve got to use the right balls on the right blocks to get through 120 tricky levels, and you’re going to have a blast doing it. Blosics HD is a great new puzzler and you can get it for free.

8. Dwarves’ Tale

Pixonic dropped an interesting Android game this week with Dwarves’ Tale. Everyone knows that Dwarves like mountains, loot, and lore… you’re going to get all 3 as you work with your Dwarf buddy to explore dungeons and attempt to rescue Sleeping Beauty. This one would be higher on the list, but it has a few early issues that I’m sure the developers will address soon. You can check out Dwarves’ Tale for free on Google Play.

9. Snark Busters: All Reeved Up

The Snark Busters are back, and this time they’re all reeved up as you play the role of Jack Blair, a racecar driver that’s out to snatch the elusive Snark. You’ll get to solve puzzles, find hidden objects, and play cool mini-games in 31 animated locales. If you liked the first Snark Busters it’s safe to say you’ll dig this one and you can get it for free.

10. Sol Runner

Sol Runner is a 3D shooter that puts you to work as an espionage specialist. Your job is to run & gun your way through a rival corporation’s ranks as you wreck their R&D and take out the corporate heads.  I haven’t had a chance to play this one yet, but it sounds pretty cool as it involves awesome weapons, cyborgs, mutants, and aliens. You can get Bitwise Designs Sol Runner for free on Google Play.
