Top 10 New Android Games of the Week – August 12, 2012
This week’s Top 10 brings us a couple of highly anticipated games involving Zombies & Boxing along with a visit from some very Greedy Spiders. If those don’t suit your needs you can still battle with robots, kick soccer balls or run your own Medieval Kingdom. Without further ado, here are our picks for the Top 10 New Android Games of the past week…
Fans of the classic computer game The Oregon Trail had reason to rejoice this week… especially if they like Zombies. Developers The Men Who Wear Many Hats finally released their highly anticipated game The Organ Trail, and it’s chocked full of old-school goodness. You can read a little more about it here or head on over to Google Play and pick it up for $2.99.
2. Punch Hero
Punch Hero from Gamevil is another Android game folks have been waiting for, and so far it’s been well worth the wait. Punch Hero puts you up against a slew of tough boxers while letting you upgrade your fighter as you progress through the ranks. The controls are intuitive and fun to use and you’ll even get to box a few Zombies for good measure. It’s a very cool game and you can snag it for free on Google Play.
The bugs are back and so are the spiders in Blyts’s Greedy Spiders 2. Thanks to a traitorous bug you’ll have to rescue your bug buddies again, and it’s just as frustratingly fun as it was the first time around. If you love a good Puzzler it’s a game you won’t want to miss; you can check out the free version or pick up the paid version of Greedy Spiders 2 for only $0.99 on Google Play.
You never know what kind of game Gameloft is going to release, and this week it was a Sim/Strategy game by the name of Kingdoms & Lords. The game drops you into a medivel setting where you’ll have to build your village, and train your armies so you can attack your neighbors and expand your empire. You can checkout Kingdoms & Lords for free on Google Play.
I’m a sucker for Westerns and if it’s a Space Western you can definitely count me in. Thanks to Mobage and their new game Fatal Frontier you can experience the fun of a Space Western RPG on your mobile device. I just stumbled across this one at the last minute while putting the list together, but will have more on in a few days so be sure to check back. If you want to give it a go now you can pick up Fatal Frontier for free.
Gamevil has put out some fun sports games over the past few years, and they’ve just added another one to their catalog with Freekick Battle. You’ll get to kick balls until you’re blue in the face, and you’ll get to kick balls against other people online in real-time matches. It’s pretty much a “must have” game if you’re into Soccer and best of all it’s free!
Colopl and Kuma the Bear dropped in to pay gamers a visit last week with Battle Robots! and I for one am glad they did. Battle Robots! lets you fight your robot against others in over 100 stages, and you’ll get to upgrade & customize your robot as you progress in the game. If you dig robots or fighting games you’ll enjoy this one, and you can pick it up for the low price of free.
8. B.B. Bear!
Normally I wouldn’t include a game on the list that’s already been released, but Disney’s Where’s My Perry? is a great game and it just got a free version this past week. If you didn’t buy the full version and have been wanting to try the game out now’s your chance as you can pick up Where’s My Perry? for free on Google Play.
Basketball All-stars is a new Android game from Huale Interactive that puts you on the court in a fun Pop-a-shot style of game. The gameplay is simple, but fun and there are quite a few power-ups that can boost your game. Basketball All-stars is a good quick play game, but I’m ranking it lower than I would have due to the obtrusive ads that can throw you off during gameplay. Still a good game, but beware of the poorly placed ads.
