Top 10 New Android Games of the Week – June 17, 2012

This week was a tough one as there were several good releases, and two awesome games fought for the top spot. In the end Max Payne Mobile blew the competition away (in slo-mo) although Babel Rising 3D almost edged it out. Without further ado, we proudly present Android-Games.com’s Top 10 New Android Games of the Week…

1. Max Payne Mobile

In a move everyone expected Max Payne Mobile finally got released, and I can tell you first hand it was well worth the wait. You can know play the game that started it all on your mobile device, and it’s looks and runs great. Everything you remember from the original is there so sit back, relax, and prepare to lose a few days to Max Payne Mobile. You can check out Rockstar Games Max Payne Mobile for only $2.99 on Google Play.

2. Babel Rising 3D

The second best game this week (almost first) is Babel Rising 3D a virtual smiting game from the folks at AMA Ltd and Ubisoft. You basically play a god and you take out villagers trying to build the Tower of Babel. You’ll get to strike them down with all 4 elements and you’re going to have a blast doing it as the game is extremely addictive and well… it lets you play a God. If you can run it I highly suggest you check out Babel Rising 3D, no free version is available but you can get the full version for $4.99.

3. Neuroshima Hex

Neuroshima Hex isn’t kin to the badass known as Jonah Hex, but it is a fun new puzzle game that’s bound to keep you busy. While I’m not exactly sure what’s going on with the back story yet (Borgo, wastelands, apocalypse) I can tell you that it’s a tactical board game that’s very well known in Board Game circles around the globe. I had never played it (or heard of it) until this weekend, but I’m sure glad I did as it’s a great strategy game. If you want to give it a run you can pick up Big Daddys Creations Michal Oracz Neuroshima Hex for $2.99.

4. Temple Run Brave

Disney has impressed me with damn near everything it’s put out since Where’s My Water? and they’ve just put out another impressive game when they partnered with Imangi for Temple Run: Brave for Android. Temple Run: Brave puts you in the game as Merida from the new movie and lets you run, jump, turn, and slide your way through Scotland. Did we mention you also get to shoot? Great game, and an awesome way to kill some time; you can pick up Temple Run Brave on Google Play for $0.99.

5. Magic Portals

If you like Magic, Platformers, and fun you’ll love Magic Portals from Asantee. Magic Portals is a cool new platformer that lets you move around with a couple of buttons and the ability to teleport yourself (and objects) with fancy magical portals. It’s a lot of fun, and it’s very well done game throughout. You can check out the trial version of Magic Portals for free on Google Play.

6. Jumping Electrons

I’ll keep this one short and sweet by saying that Jumping Electrons is fun, original, and shockingly addictive. You have to guide an electron around inside an old Radio and Jukebox while avoiding different obstacles as you try and make it to the finish line. It’s a fun, simple concept and there’s even a free version you can try before you buy. You can get Finmouse’s Jumping Electrons on Google Play.

7. Chrono & Cash

OrangePixel came  back this week with another Retro game for you to kill some time with called Chrono & Cash. The new game involves a crafty thief, a robot, and time travel… yup time travel. If you enjoy retro or liked their previous releases there’s little doubt that you’ll dig this one. You can check out Chrono & Cash for $2.49 on Google Play.

8. Besieged 2

The original Besieged was so fun, we’ve now got a part deux with Besieged 2 from Leviathan Games. You get to defend your castle again, against the bumbling hordes of skeletons. While I haven’t tried this one out yet, I plan on it as I was a big fan of the original. If you feel like killing a few hundred skeletons head on over to Google Play and check out Besieged 2 for free.

9. Piranha 3DD

Piranha 3DD is one of those games that I haven’t played, but it’s going on the list as I just saw the movie and it’s a game about Piranha eating people. Did we mention you play as the school of Piranha’s and not the people trying to escape? Yup… nuff’ said. If you want to give it a run you can grab Piranha 3DD for free.

10. Boom Beats

Boom Beats is a new rhythm game put out by the folks at Gamelion Studios, and it lets you tap your way to the top by with 14 “club bangers” including Dub Step, Rave, Jungle, and House. This is typically not my fare every time I hear the word “rave” I think of some douche in a Dr. Suess hat with some glowsticks. That being said, I still tried it out and it was surprisingly fun and quite addictive as well. If you’re ready to tap through your screen you can check out Boom Beats for free.
