Top 10 Android Games of the Week – June 3, 2012
We’re back again to give you our picks for the best new Android games that have come out over the past few weeks. We’ve got a popular title from gameloft, a lasagna loving cat, and a visit to the comical world of The Naked Gun movies with Frank Drebin Jr. There’s truly something for everyone this week from Da Vinci designed weapons to dinosaurs. Without further ado, we proudly present you with our Top 10 Android Games from the last week of May.
The Naked Gun: I.C.U.P is an awesome new game that puts you into the world of The Naked Gun as Lt. Frank Drebin Jr. It’s a fully voice acted, classic adventure game and it was written by Bob LoCash writer of Naked Gun 33 1/3, high School High, and BASEketball so you can bet it’ll be funny. I actually watched this one get funded, and it’s great to see it met its mark and is no ready to be played. Expect a full review on this one shortly, until then you can pick it up for $4.85 on Google Play.
One of the joys of having a new quad-core tab is being able to play games like Renaissance Blood from NCsoft Corporation. Renaissance Blood is a first-person shooter set in the renaissance period in a world full of alchemy and intrigue. The premise is cool enough as it is, but is made cooler by the fact you get to use Da Vinci inspired weapons. This one’s for Tegra 3 devices only, but well worth the $3.99 price tag if you can run it.
Can you defend the refrigerator against armies of alien food items? That’s the premise behind Garfield Defense a new castle refrigerator defense style game from Web Prancer. Not much to say besides it’s fun, it’s free and it’s Garfield! If you’re ready to help out everyone’s favorite lasagna loving cat, you can pick up Garfield Defense for free on Google Play.
4. Nova 3
Like futuristic first person shooters and non-stop combat? If so you’re in for a treat as Gameloft finally released N.O.V.A. 3 for Android earlier this week. If you played the previous two titles you already know what to expect… a cool futuristic backdrop and a whole lot of fighting. If you’re device is up to the task (requires 2G free Mem to install) you can pick up N.O.V.A. 3 on Google Play for $6.99.
5. Continuity 2
Continuity 2 is a cool new sliding puzzle game from the minds at Noodlecake Studios. You’ll have to solve each level by rearranging the tiles so you can move along to collect the key and unlock the next stage. It’s highly addictive and a must-have game if you enjoy puzzlers. You can pick up Continuity 2 for the low price of $0.99 on Google Play.
What’s a Mobble? If you enjoyed virtual pets back in the day, Mobbles is right up your alley as this game allows you to catch and raise them in your smartphone. Capture, collect, grow, and trade… you can do all this and more, but unfortunately there’s no battling yet. It’s still a very cool game and you can get it for free on Google Play.
Space shooters are a dime a dozen these days, but it’s always nice to find one that’s new and refreshing like SCAWAR Space Combat from Punch Wolf Game Studios. SCAWAR lets you blast your way through 20 intense levels of space combat in a quest to save the universe. It looks and plays great and you can grab it on Google Play for free.
Lord & Master lets you give commands to your army and jump dead into the battle as you try to bring a war torn continent together as one. I honestly don’t know a lot about this one except that it lets you work battle and work your way up to being a King… and it looks pretty cool. I plan on checking this one out a little closer over the next few days; if you want to give it a run now you can get it for $2.90 on Google Play.
9. Dinosaur War
We’ve seen building games with monsters, circus folks and smurfs… now we’ve got one with dinosaurs. Dinosaur war lets you join forces with the dinosaurs as you try and beat back evil in prehistoric times. I haven’t played this one yet, but it looks like a winner especially if ya’ dig dinosaurs.
Mechadroids is a new multiplayer strategy based combat game set in a satirical world of quirky robots. You get to randomly battle people online through a menu-based setup that lets you choose body parts to attack. I haven’t played this one yet, but it looks like some good quick play fun. You can Deadworld Studios Mechadroids for free on Google Play.
