Top 10 Android Games of the Week – June 24, 2012
It’s that time again. Time to bust a rhyme? Naw, B… Time to suck a lime? Naw, B… It’s time for the Top 10 Android Games of the Week. This weeks list has an 80s classic movie made into a game, some battling brutes, cats in the clouds, and of course a few zombies. If you got ancient SNL reference at the begging of this intro I give you props, and if not that’s okay too. Either way, this week was a good week to be a gamer and here’s our Top picks for last week…
Would you like to play a game? I’m sure you’re going to hear a lot of that (especially from me) as Be-Rad Entertainment has released WarGames: WOPR for Android. Yup, it’s a Wargames game based on the classic 80s movie and I for one am beyond thrilled. I’m a little ashamed that I haven’t mentioned this one sooner as it’s been out since the 14th and I’ve known about it since Wednesday, but am just getting around to talking about it. As I’m a huge fan of all things 80′s you can bet your bottom dollar that they’ll be a nice glowing review of this one next week. Until then you can pick up Wargames: WOPR for $0.99 on Google Play
Ever since Jurrasic Park came out, we’ve all wanted to hunt dinosaurs. Admit it… they’re big, scary, mean, and will rip you to shreds but you’d still want to hunt them if you could. Carnivores: Dinosaur Hunter HD from Tatem games you the chance to do just that, and it’s quite a bit of fun as well. If you want to try and kill a T-Rex or two, head on over to Google Play and try this one out.
3. Mexi Cannon
If you’ve ever wanted to fire humans from a cannon this week was a good week for you. If you’ve ever wanted to fire Mexican Wrestlers from a cannon… you can now die happy and cross that one of your bucket list. Mexi Cannon let’s you fire Luchadores from cannons and to be quite honest, it’s a damn good time. You can grab Menue Games Mexi Cannon for free on Google Play.
Toon Summer Games 2012 lets you take on the Olympics, but in animal form as you’ll get to play as a sheep, cat, turtle, and even a gorilla. There are a lot of cool events like BMX, Swimming, and Ping Pong and the game even runs well on my aging Captivate. No free version is available, but you can get the full version of Toons Summer Games 2012 for only $0.99.
First it was Garfield Defense, and this week we got Garfields Diner to celebrate the fat cat’s birthday. Garfields Diner is a time management game similar to Diner Dash where you’ll have to meet & greet customers while making sure they get their food on time. If you enjoy games like Diner Dash or are a fan of Garfield and his gang you’ll definitely want to pick this one up.
Join the Armada, take out the brood, and save mankind… or what’s left of it. That’s your job in Strikefleet Omega from 6waves, and it’s going to be quite the task. Luckily you’re in charge of the baddest ship out there, and you’ll get to command it as well as the rest of the fleet against the evil aliens. It’s an awesome strategy/space shooter and a game everyone should check out. You can snag Strikefleet Omega for free on Google Play.
7. My Brute
My Brute is finally available to play on your Android device thanks to the fine folks at Bulkypix AMA. Want to fight against people all over the world as your own customizable Brute while discovering and mastering over 70 skills & weapons? My Brute has you covered as it lets you do all that and more. It’s also free to play which is never a bad thing. If you want to give it a go, you can pick up My Brute on Google Play.
Atari surprised us this week as they unleashed a new game called Centipede Origins, and it’s not quite the Centipede you grew up on. You’ll still get to kill those evil bugs, but gnomes and gardens are involved this time around. Reports are coming back mixed on this one, which sucks to be honest as the reports weren’t that great on their last one either. Why’s it on the list? Because it’s Atari, it’s classic, and maybe if enough people bitch they’ll straighten the issues out. No free version, and the paid version will set you back a buck.
Kittens, stars, and clouds. No, we’re not talking about a new Sanrio character, but if you like cool puzzlers (and kittehs) you may want ot check out Climb the Clouds from Tree Fort Interactive. Can you help the Kitteh’s climb the clouds and make it to freedom? Download Castle in the Clouds on Google Play to find out.
People usually don’t feel sorry for Zombies, and they never, ever help them out. Well Plight of the Zombies changes that as you try to help the Zombies collect brains and get through the humans defenses. It’s definitely a unique way to play, and great fun if you dig puzzlers or Zombie games. You can pick up Spark Plug Games Plight of the Zombie for free on Google Play.
