Throw the Knife by Ximad – Android Game Review
There are Android Games that let you chuck all sorts of things like darts, sheep, and even a few angry birds. Throw the Knife from Ximad is a “chucking” game of a different sort as it allows you to throw knives in the direction of your quirky little friend Buddy.
Buddy is a little ragdoll creature that has a major problem… flies. Mosquitoes and flies just won’t leave Buddy alone and your job is to help him out by taking out the buggy offenders with several sharp objects. Just like the target games of old, Buddy is tied to a spinning board and you’ll have to be careful not to hit Buddy and only take out the flies. It’s actually a little tricky at first as you have to get a “feel” for how strong you need to flick the knives, but once you get the hang of it you’re good to go. Killing flies gives you points, but tagging mosquitoes will give you stars which can be used in the shop. Your character will start out with a set amount of first aid kits, and once those are done so are you. It’s a very simple premise and quite a bit of fun.
There are 3 different modes of play in Throw the Knife with Arcade, Hit the Target, and Bloody Mode. Arcade mode lets you take on the bugs with a spinning buddy in the background while Hit the Target gives you 3 knives and a lot of flying targets. Bloody Mode is supposed to be bloody, but you’ll have to pay $0.99 to get that mode. Throw the Knife has around 20 achievements to unlock and a high score table for each of the three game modes. There’s also a store that lets you buy new weapons, clothing for buddy, and targets using the money you’ve earned in the game.
Throw the Knife is a cool little game, and it’s great for some quick play fun while you’re on the go. The additions in the store add a little depth to the game, and it’s just hard enough to stay fun and keep you coming back for more. I thoroughly enjoyed this little time waster, and think others will too. If you’re ready to help Buddy and kill lots of bugs you can pick up Ximad’s Throw the Knife for free on Google Play.
