Top 10 Android Games of the Week – January 22, 2012
We’re back and doing things differently this week as we’ve finally separated our Android Apps & Games into two separate lists. You’ll find our Top 10 Android Games of the week below and our Top 10 Android Apps on our sister site Android-Apps.com. Without further ado, here are our picks for the Top 10 Android Games of the week…
1. Osmos HD
Enter the Darwinian world of a galactic mote. Absorb or be absorbed… That’s the tagline of a new Android game called Osmos HD from Hemisphere games, and it’s quite fitting considering the theme of the game. You basically zip around as a “Mote” and try to absorb smaller motes while dodging the bigger ones. Actually, there’s quite a bit to the game and more than we can cover here, but I will say it’s one awesome game that everyone needs to check out. There is a demo you can try or you can skip straight to the full version of Osmos HD for only $2.99.
2. Super Bit Dash
Super Bit Dash is an awesome new retro platformer from Fakepup that has you swiping your way through many deadly 8-bit rooms. There’s no control pad as all your moves are done by swiping/dashing which works out well and really makes the game. The retro graphics are the icing on the cake as Super Bit Dash is an excellent game in every way. You can pickup Fakepup’s Super Bit Dash in the Android market for free.
3. Whale Trail
Whale Trail is a trippy new game from ustwo that looks like something straight out of Sgt. Pepper or Yellow Submarine. You’re a “Blubble” eating Whale named Willow who races through the sky collecting bubbles while trying to avoid the Thunder Bros and the evil Baron Von Barry. The graphics are colorful and pretty whacky while the soundtrack fits the game perfectly and really sucks you into the game. The gameplay is top-notch as well which makes Whale Trail a game that everyone needs to play. No free version is available, but the paid version is a steal at only $0.99 cents.
4. Paper Glider vs Gnomes
Paper Glider vs. Gnomes is one of those games where the name says it all. Yes there are paper gliders, and there are definitely lots of yard gnomes and you’ll need to destroy them all. Your gliders are actually bombers or sorts and you’ll take out the gnomes in an Angry Birds kinda’ way which isn’t a bad thing in this case. Neon Play did a great job with the game and you can pick it up for free in the Android market.
5. Road Warrior
Road Warrior is a new death racing game from Top Free Apps & Games that has you racing against opponents and trying to destroy them as you zip along. Yup, you get mad-max style cars and anything goes in this fast-paced racer. There are flips, multiple routes within a track, and the cars are upgradable as well. It’s been a blast to play so far and it’s a game I think a lot of people are going to enjoy. You can get Road Warrior for free in the Android market.
6. Half Breed
Half Breed is an interesting new Action-Adventure game from iNoko Studios that gives you unique weapons and abilities to help you take revenge on those who createdyou. You get to take on waves of enemies with some very cool powers and each time you defeat a boss you get a new one; the BFR or Big F’in Ray is my personal favorite, but steel rain is a close second. The game could use a few tweaks here and there, but for the most part it’s a solid game well worth a look. You can get iNoko Studios Half Breed for free in the market.
7. Felt Factory

8. Giovanni’s Nightmare
Giovanni’s Nightmare is a new arcade game from Mominis that has you trying to escape a bad dream after eating some very spicy food. Giovanni is stuck in a colorful, trippy nightmare and you’ll help him escape by collecting clocks and jellybeans as you stomp out the bad guys. It’s a cool, colorful game and worth checking out if you’re a fan of platform or arcade style games. Giovanni’s Adventure is free to download from the Android market.
9. Babylonian Twins Platformer

10. Goldman
Goldman lets you control a greedy miner that’s just out for one thing… those yellow nuggets known as gold. He’s a demolition expert with no shortage of explosives to help you get through many different types of ground. From TNT to Moltov Cocktails, he’s going to get that gold one way or another. There are over 100 levels and 3 different trophy collections to acquire so it’s pretty safe to say the games got a little depth. There is a free version and paid version of Goldman available; both can be found in the Android market.
